Student Health Matters
The Student Health Centre is located in block C, level M (room CM061) in the main building and provides a service for University of Limerick registered students only.
The Student Health Centre Reception opening hours are Monday to Friday 09:00-10:30, 11:00-12:45 and 14:00-16:30. Please see Clinic Times for specific clinic opening times.
The Student Health Centre is an urgent care/advisory service and deals with all general health issues as they present. Any students with a long term medical condition which requires regular follow up should register with a local GP, as the Student Health Centre is not a GP service.
Please note medical card users may only use their cards for prescription purposes, for the contraceptive clinic and for the STI clinic. All other services will incur a fee. Please state when booking an appointment that you have a medical card.
The confidential treatment of health information and health records is a professional obligation of all staff of the Student Health Centre. All consultations are treated in the strictest confidence and no information is given to others without written permission.
During the summer months a very limited service is available at the Student Health Centre.
The telephone is manned Monday to Friday 09:30 -12:00 and doctor availability will vary. Please ring for appointment times.
Anyone who needs an urgent appointment during office hours may contact Dr Ronan Ryder's surgery - Old Windmill Medical Centre, Lower Gerald Griffin Street, Limerick. Tel: 061 313 919. Dr Ryder offers a student rate.

When ringing, please state what specific type of consultation you wish to book e.g. general doctor, contraceptive clinic, STI, physiotherapy etc.
The Student Health Centre is located in the Main Building in block C, level M. Our waiting room does not have a number but it is located opposite office door number CM046.
Directions for finding the waiting room are as follows:
Enter the Main Building via the glass ski slope front. Take the stairwell to the right up to the next level (level O). Veer right and follow the corridor round to the next stairwell and follow the stairwell up to the mezzanine (M) level. At the top of the stairwell turn right, then immediately turn left, turn right and the waiting room will be on your right hand side.
Medical card holders may use their cards for prescription purposes and can avail of a reduced rate of €10 for the STI and contraceptive clinics. For all other services the normal charges will apply. Local students with medical cards are advised to visit their own GP. Non-local students with medical cards are advised to register with a local GP. Please state when booking an appointment that you have a medical card.
In order to avail of our out of hours service (Limerick Doc) under the GMS scheme, medical card holders must be registered with a Limerick based GP.
