The Academic Registry offer training on use of the following systems below to support course leaders, module tutors and department administrators to make effective and efficient use of these systems. Module Grade Entry (MGE) training will be offered in advance of the Autumn and Spring Grading Cycle. Each training session usually lasts approximately 30 minutes. This training is aimed at Module Leaders who will be using the MGE system for the first time or Module Leaders who require a refresher course on the MGE system. All module leaders will be invited to this training course via email. If you do not receive this invitation but are interested in attending one of the sessions please email ModuleGradeEntry@ul.ie for assistance. Progression Decision Entry training will be offered in advance of the Autumn and Spring Progression Cycle. Each training session usually lasts approximately 30 minutes. This training is aimed at Course Leaders who will be using the PDE system for the first time or Course Leaders who require a refresher course on the PDE system. All course leaders will be invited to this training course through email. If you do not receive this invitation but are interested in attending one of the sessions please email ModuleGradeEntry@ul.ie for assistance. If you cannot attend the training session the Progression Decision Instruction Manual can be downloaded.
NOTE: There has been one amendment to the system from Autumn 2013/4 onwards - any supplementary decision will now be indicated in the notes field on the PDE screen making the Supplementary Decision form is obsolete.
This new on-line grading system replaces the paper-based Research Postgraduate Progression (PGR-9 Forms) which have been issued in the past. Grades will now be entered by the Head of Department via the student portal. Training will be offered in advance of the Grading period. ASCS is the online data collection system The Scheduling and Exams Office within the Academic Registry Division use to gather departmental scheduling requirements for production of the central university class timetable for each semester. Access to the system is available to all Heads of Department and their nominated Scheduling Coordinators. The system opens twice each year:
Training is available to all Head of Departments and their nominated Scheduling coordinators. Others who wish to inform themselves further on UL scheduling policy and process may also avail of this training (ie. Course Directors, Department Administrators).
Formal training sessions are organised in February and July each year when the system opens. Ad-hoc training or advise is available at any time by contacting email@example.com.
Module Exam Requirements Collection System
The Module Exam Requirements Collection System is the online system used by SAA to gather module exam related data for each academic semester. The system opens twice yearly for submissions and the resulting data is used to produce the end of semester and annual repeat examination timetables. Module Leaders are responsible for entering exam data for each of their modules into MERCS. Department Administrators can access information in MERCS related to modules within their own academic department. Training is available to Module Leaders and Department Administrators each time the system opens. The system opens for submission as follows:
