PhD Writers' Week August 2022

23.08.2022

This year’s PhD Writers’ Week took place from the 15th- 19th of August, 2022. Seven PhD students came to our centre to work on their writing during the week:

2nd Year  Affaf Benmesli (School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences)

4th Year Grace Gilmore (School of Design, Faculty of Science and Engineering)

2nd Year Harsh Barua (Chemical Science, Faculty of Science and Engineering)

4th Year Katie Fitzpatrick (Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences)

4th Year Niall Devitt (Economics, KBS )

3rd Year Niamh Hickey (Education and Health Sciences, School of Education)

3rd Year Sarah Messous (Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences)

The students met each morning from 9am to 1pm in our Writers' Space here in the Regional Writing Centre. Their sessions included writing, discussing what they can do better and receiving advice on their way of writing. During the week, the students each met with a peer tutor one on one to discuss their personal strategies of writing and receive advice specific to their work. The students made great improvement in how they balance their schedules while still completing a PhD. We are very proud of the work they accomplished throughout the week.
