We have just finished another successful PhD Writers' Week Regional Writing Centre! It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, thank you to all who took part for making it so. We look forward to seeing you all in the Writing Centre soon.
PhD Writers’ Week is modeled on similar residential Writers’ Retreats, which the RWC runs with the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL). Writers’ Week aims to help PhD students advance their writing. The retreat takes place in the Writers' Space in C1-065. It provides a structured approach to writing from 9am- 1pm daily with the option of continuing from 2-5pm, helping participants stay ‘on track’. In addition, writing as a member of a group, where distractions such as e-mail and Facebook are minimised, serves as an additional incentive and creates a productive work atmosphere. Participants are given the opportunity to meet with a peer tutor to discuss any concerns they may have about their writing. There is also a lunch provided on the first and last days of the retreat!
Our next PhD Writers' Week Retreat will take place in January 2018. It will be advertised through email and on our social media accounts in December so keep an eye out for updates!
