On May 26th, The Regional Writing Centre held the Award Ceremony for its 10th Annual Secondary School Essay Competition. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the cermeony was help online on Microsoft Teans. In attendance were staff members and faculty, our three shortlisted winners and their friends and family. 

To begin the ceremony, Lawrence Cleary, Director of the Regional Writing Centre welcomed everyone. Afterwards, Dr. Mary Fitzpatrick, Head of Centre for Transformative Learning introduced UL President, professor Kerstin Mey who announced the winners:

William Quinlan,  St. Josephs College, Borrisoleigh, Thurles, Co. Tipperary - Overall Winner

Kate Owens, Colaiste Iognaid, Sea Road, Galway. -Runner Up

Oscar Murphy, Sandford Park School, Ranelagh, Dublin 6. - Runner Up

The students were shown their certificates and prizes, that were mailed out to them at the conclusion of the ceremony. The students also said of few words of thanks and congratulated each other on their hard work.
