Faculty Writers Retreat January 2018

Faculty Writers’ Retreat, January 9th – 11th, 2018

Coolbawn Quay, Co. Tipperary

All faculty are invited to submit expressions of interest in participating in a residential writers' retreat. In the spirit of a retreat, this event will take place off campus, in surroundings facilitating reflection and collaboration. Faculty writers’ retreat provides a facilitative, supportive environment for faculty to write for publication. In addition, writing as a member of a group, where distractions are minimised, serves as an additional incentive and creates a productive work atmosphere.

The purpose of the retreat will be to 'kick-start' the writing process for interested faculty who are struggling to start, to progress or to finish a coherent piece of writing (e.g. a journal article or a book chapter).

In order to get the most out of the retreat, you will have to make a serious commitment to partake in the full three days (January 9th to 11th).   Participants will be expected to do as much preparation as possible in advance of the retreat so as to maximise time for writing, and each participant   should also be prepared to share in seminar format something of the struggles and triumphs of their writing process during the retreat. Some   structured short seminars, advice on writing and individual reviews will form part of the programme.

Cost: The cost of this faculty writers’ retreat will be approximately €400 per person. This price includes full board for the duration of the retreat.
