Who is a Mature Student?
To be considered a mature student, you must be 23 years of age or older by the 1st January in the year in which you commence your study. You must also qualify as an EU applicant. The Mature Student Office works with mature students studying on full-time degree programmes.
Why come to UL?
UL offers a wide range of interesting degree programmes, all of which have an excellent graduate employment record. UL also has a very attractive and welcoming campus, with state-of-the-art teaching, sports and other facilities. UL openly welcomes mature students into its degree programmes and encourages your full participation in university life.
What can I study?
As a mature applicant, you can apply to any degree programme offered by UL. Generally speaking, you don't need prior qualifications (e.g your full Leaving Certificate) or specific experience to apply. However some programmes in UL may have specific requirements e.g. Engineering programmes will need you to have higher level Leaving Cert maths. To view UL's full list of degree programmes, including entry requirements for mature students, see the Undergraduate Prospectus.
