Lector in Japanese Language

The School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics at the University of Limerick seeks to recruit a Lector in Japanese Language. The successful candidate will have a native or near-native level of Japanese, a good honours degree in Japanese Language Education, or a closely-related discipline and experience of teaching in higher education.


  The person will be responsible for:

·         delivering beginner to intermediate level undergraduate Japanese Language courses (up to 12 contact hours per week for two 12-week semesters (24 weeks in total) from September 2018 to June 2019) (Payment scale up to €16000pro rata)

  • contributing to the development of the Japanese programmes  


The person should have:

  • excellent team working and communication skills
  • experience of, and a commitment to, using communicative teaching methods, especially teaching through the target language.
  • native-level Japanese proficiency
