Ireland was not one of the major havens for the many desperate people fleeing Hitler. But who did come? How long did they stay? What were their previous lives? How did Irish policy develop? How did their lives in Ireland turn out (if they did stay)? Who helped? Some of the answers might surprise. There will be a special focus on the response to and impact of the émigrés at third level institutions.
