The Inverse Problems and Imaging Group in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Limerick invites you to a seminar by Prof Allan Greenleaf (University of Rochester).
Title: Invisibility cloaking for the conductivity and Helmholtz equations.
Abstract: There has been a tremendous amount of work over more than a decade on theoretical designs and practical implementations of invisibility cloaks for waves governed by a variety of PDEs. I will discuss some of the original work in the context of the conductivity equation (for electrostatics or steady state heat flow) and the Helmholtz equation (for acoustics or scalar optics).
Certain features of the analysis indicate the difficulties of implementing actual cloaks and ways to improve the effectiveness of approximate cloaks.
This seminar will take place on Tuesday, March 13, at 3pm, in A2-002.
