Blow-up problems in nonlinear Volterra equations

The department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Limerick invites you to a seminar by Denis Patterson (Dublin City University):

Title:  Blow-up problems in nonlinear Volterra equations

Abstract: Blow-up problems in nonlinear Volterra equations Nonlinear Volterra equations arise in a wide variety of contexts in applied mathematics and their connections to parabolic PDEs led to the development of a rich literature regarding the finite-time blow-up of solutions. Research on such blow--up problems has sought to answer three central questions: when do solutions explode, at what time do solutions explode, and what is the asymptotic behaviour of solutions at blow-up? This talk will focus on answering the final question; in particular, I will discuss the estimation of growth rates of explosive and unbounded solutions for general nonlinearities and non-singular kernels.

This is joint work with John Appleby (DCU) and is supported by the Irish Research Council under the grant GOIPG/2013/402.

This seminar will take place on Friday , March 31st  , at 4pm, in  Room A2-002.

If you have any questions regarding this seminar, please direct them to Iain Moyles (061 233726, iain.moyles@ul.ie).
