Student Visit to Garda Training College

On Monday 16th April students on the LL.M./M.A. Human Rights in Criminal Justice master’s programme, accompanied by Course Director Dr Ger Coffey, visited the Garda Training College in Templemore for an educational tour. This was beneficial for students to experience the College facilities, ethos, professionalism and dedication of training staff. Students gained invaluable insights into the professional training programme for Garda Trainees.

The tour commenced with a very informative lecture by Sergeant John Reynolds, Ph.D. in History (UL,) on the history of policing in Ireland and the development of An Garda Síochána as Ireland’s national police service. Students were then given a tour of the College by Sergeant Debra Marsh, LL.M. in Human Rights in Criminal Justice graduate (UL), which included the library, museum (set up by Sergeant Reynolds in 2002), gym, sports hall, driver training centre and the shooting range.
