The School of Law, was happy to include a student from the SparkEd/Enactus Programme in our Transition Year Week in February 2019. Fiona Stapleton (Castletroy College) was one of 6 students who joined the Law School for a week of activities, including attending lectures and workshops and participating in a Mooting Competition.
SparkEd which is a youth leadership programme for transition year students. There are three elements to the programme: volunteering, workshops on skills such as decision making and leadership and then a showcase day in May.
The SparkEd Showcase day took place on Tuesday 14th May where students from a variety of Schools in the mid-west gave presentations on the importance of volunteering coupled with demonstrating the importance of a UN sustainable goal. Presentations included, the effect of climate change and global warming, fighting cancer, dealing with hunger, pollution and volunteering in a local homework club.
Carol Huguet (Transition Year Co-Ordinator. School of Law) was happy to sit on the judging panel along with representatives from the Citibank, Uber and the Kemmy business School to judge the finalists presentations. The winning group came from Castletroy College for their ocean pollution/homework club project.
Carol Huguet was also happy to present a certificate to Fiona Stapleton for her participation in the Law School Transition Year week. Fiona was also part of the winning presentation team.
