Ray Friel, Director of Research at the Law School has recently been appointed Editor in Chief of the Judicial Studies Journal. The Judicial Studies Institute of the Courts has the primary responsibility for publishing this prestigious journal which is read by the judiciary, legal practitioners and academics from around the world.
“I feel both a great sense of honour at being chosen by the judiciary to lead this prestigious journal for the coming years and also a heavy burden of being able to live up to the excellent reputation of the Journal as one of the premier legal journals in Ireland,” Friel said on his appointment. “We are lucky to have a progressive and dedicated judiciary in this jurisdiction which recognises the value of academic work in assisting the judicial process.”
Professor Shane Kilcommins said “once again, this demonstrates the high regard in which the School of Law at UL is held by our external stakeholders and we are proud to be associated with the Judicial Studies Journal into the future.”
The Journal will be published annually and may also include additional themed special editions as required. The next issue is due by December of 2016. Submission of articles and case notes are welcomed and may be made to firstname.lastname@example.org
