“Ireland is an increasingly popular destination for Chinese students. I am one of those Chinese students who chose Ireland for my postgraduate study, undertaking the LLM in International Commercial Law at the School of Law in the University of Limerick.
I moved from Beijing and spent a year and a half in Ireland and I loved it so much – the blue sky, the white clouds and the green fields! I even loved the rain which is like the south of China. And it wasn’t just the weather and scenery that I enjoyed – I loved my time at the School of Law too. As a student, I experienced a range of different teaching methods and class environments. I loved that I felt free to ask questions and share my experiences with the rest of my class which were normally quite small in size and very rarely had 100 students. As a result of my studies in the School of Law, I now have an insight into a different legal system and feel ready for the next stage of my career.
Although the Irish language still exists, the official language is English and I had no problems communicating with fellow students. I joined lots of different societies which gave me the opportunity to make friends with Irish students (so friendly and enthusiastic!) and other international students as well.
I will treasure my time at the School of Law, University of Limerick for the rest of my life and whole heartily recommend international students to gain the same experience I did!”
