J Paul McCutcheon, BCL, LLM, LLD, Professor of Law
Paul McCutcheon is a graduate of University College, Dublin. He was awarded a Tutorial Scholarship by UCD for 1980-1981. He was a Fellow of the Salzburg Seminar in American Studies in 1985. He held a Visiting Fellowship at the Australian National University in 1996 and has been a visiting lecturer in institutions in the UK, France, Romania, the United States, Canada, and Australia. He was a consultant to the Law Reform Commission on its project on the defence of provocation. He also acted as consultant to the Inspector of Prisons and Places of Detention. In January 2003 he was appointed a member of the Expert Group to advise the Minister for Justice on the Codification of the Criminal Law. He was Head of the School of Law from September 2002 until mid 2007.
