On Tuesday 14th February, Mr Justice John Edwards, delivered a guest lecture titled ‘The UK Supreme Court’s decision in R v Jogee concerning parasitic accessorial liability – what implications, if any, might it have for joint enterprise in Irish criminal law?’ Mr Justice John Edwards is a Judge of the Court of Appeal and is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Law, University of Limerick. 

 

The lecture traced the background to the decision of R v Jogee and highlighted concerns about inconsistency in the law as well the potential for injustice. Mr Justice Edwards compared and contrasted Irish case law against the English jurisprudence in this area.
