On Wednesday November 2nd, the University of Limerick Law Society held a Media Law Seminar in Plassey House. The event focused on media coverage of legal issues in Ireland. The Society hosted two guest speakers, Peter Feeney and Vivienne Traynor.
Peter Feeney is the current Press Ombudsman in Ireland. He gave students an insight into his career and the type of complaints he deals with. Vivienne Traynor is one of the RTÉ Courts Correspondents. She gave an in depth analysis of what it is like to be a court reporter in Ireland and the legal issues faced by journalists when covering cases.
The evening was a great success and provided law students with an alternative outlook on media law in Ireland.
