The School of Law hosted a very successful workshop on Legal Pedagogy in Transition on Thursday April 30th. The seminar focused on a number of key themes with speakers from a range of higher education institutions (UCC, UCD, DCU, TCD, NUI Galway, Law Society of Ireland) and Arthur Cox Solicitors. Participants shared their experiences on the type and nature of transitions that occur for law students as they progress from the early weeks of their undergraduate education right through to the completion of their professional exams in the Law Society and the commencement of their careers in a 'community of practice'.
The workshop offered a space for an exchange of ideas on the different types of transitions that law students can engage with in the course of their studies and enabled staff from a variety of institutions to meet and discuss approaches to transitions in legal education. The event was funded by the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning as part of an excellent series of national seminars which focus on Teaching for Transitions.
