Introduced by Raymond Friel, Director of the ICEL Research Group, Kate Harnett from William Fry Solicitors became the 5th speaker at the monthly IP Law Café on February 18. Kate presented on 3d printing as disruptive technology and went through the IP issues that arise with respect to the advances in 3D printing technology. A well attended event in the Millstream Common Room, the presentation was marked by a lively discussion both during and after Kate’s remarks. The event was enjoyed by all and we are looking forward to next month’s event at which Dr Robert Clark of Arthur Cox Solicitors Dublin will speak on March 24 on the topic of the latest EU developments in Digital Rights.

Kate Harnett is a solicitor on the  corporate technology team in William Fry Solicitors and is also an Irish Registered Trade Mark Attorney and Community Trade Mark Attorney.  Previously, Kate worked for a number of years in the corporate and commercial law department of another Dublin firm where she advised on a variety of general corporate and intellectual property law issues with particular experience in working with technology companies and on early stage investments.   Prior to that, Kate worked as a criminal defence solicitor and as a prosecution solicitor in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.  Kate has also lectured law and criminology on the MA in Criminology at Dublin Institute of Technology and guest lectured at the Law Society of Ireland, the University of Limerick and at various events and conferences.  Kate has a particular interest in technology law.
