International/Erasmus students have their say: “Study Law in UL”!

21.01.2015

The School of Law sought feedback from a number of International and Erasmus students who have recently completed an international legal education experience at Sara and Lindaundergraduate and postgraduate level in the University of Limerick. The feedback received was exceptional.

Sara Bjørndalen (Norway), a candidate on the LLM/MA in Human Rights in Criminal Justice programme, was extremely happy with her international experience in the School of Law:

“I absolutely enjoyed the time I spent in the School of Law: it is the most amazing, remarkable and significant experience a student can get through studying. With all the interesting trips we were offered and all the conferences that were organised by the University of Limerick Law School and that I had the opportunity to take a part in it. It was very useful, educative and instructive…”

Similarly, Bianca Cennamo (Italy), who joined the School of Law for one semester through the Erasmus Programme, explained:

“Now that my Erasmus semester abroad is over, I think I couldn’t have asked for anything better. I feel lucky to have found a great place to study, together with the opportunity to be part of a new reality, even if for just a semester.”

Bianca’s colleague on the Erasmus Programme for 2014-15, Isabel Koch (Germany), was equally fulsome in her praise of the School of Law:

“Like everywhere in Ireland, I was welcomed warmly by the School of Law in the University of Limerick from the beginning. The staff really tried to identify the challenges which exist for International/Erasmus students and were always helpful. In order to provide important assistance to us Erasmus and international students starting their legal studies in the UL, the School of Law held two workshops in ‘Legal English and the Legal Databases’ and a workshop to help us prepare for our exams – this was greatly appreciated and extremely helpful.”

Representative of the overwhelmingly positive feedback received, Ran Guo (China), a candidate on the LLM in International Commercial Law programme, expressed her warm feelings on her international education experience:

“I will treasure my time at the School of Law, University of Limerick for the rest of my life and whole heartedly recommend international students to gain the same experience I did!”
