The School of Law, University of Limerick, is delighted to announce that it will welcome Professor Stephen (Steve) A. Morreale of Worcester State University, Massachusetts, as a visiting scholar supported by the Fulbright Specialist Programme. The funding, which was secured by Professor Shane Kilcommins and Dr Kathryn O’Sullivan, will see Professor Morreale visit the School of Law for six weeks in 2019. In addition to researching and collaborating with the Centre for Crime, Justice and Victims Studies at the School of Law, Professor Morreale will also give lectures and presentations to faculty and Gardai during his stay.

 

Professor Morreale served in law enforcement for 30 years, having retired as Assistant Special Agent in Charge for U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Investigations, Office of Inspector General. For nearly 20 years, he served with the Drug Enforcement Administration, serving as a special agent and managing agent. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the Secretary of U.S. Health and Human Services and a Certificate of Recognition from the President’s Council on Integrity and Ethics for his role in responding and leading a team of agents to assist in disaster relief and recovery at the site of the World Trade Center attacks in September of 2001. Dr. Morreale holds a Doctoral degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale.
