The School of Law is delighted to welcome 32 members of An Garda Síochána to the new level 8 Bachelor of Arts in Applied Policing and Criminal Justice, which runs for the first time in 2017. The new BA is a two-year, part-time, blended learning programme specifically designed for those who have completed the level 7 BA in Applied Policing, delivered at An Garda Síochána Training College in Templemore, or equivalent.
The BA in Applied Policing and Criminal Justice forms part of the School of Law’s diverse catalogue of pioneering, student-centred initiatives. This programme provides a unique opportunity for learners to capitalise on their current expertise and to develop further skills and competencies that will be of benefit in navigating the challenging and evolving environment of the criminal justice system. Learners will develop these skills through a progressive model of blended learning that is comprised of online lectures, student guide, interactive learning elements, recommended readings, and regular tutor led interactions. These elements will allow learners to experience new ways of teaching and learning and to engage with new teaching technologies as part of the programme, leading to the award of a level 8 degree.
We wish the learners every success in their studies over the next two years.
Dr Lydia Bracken, School of Law, is the Course Director for the new programme
