ALT Matheson Postgraduate Scholarship winner
Congratulations to Gráinne Jennings who has won the Matheson Postgraduate Scholarship award from the Irish Association of Law Teachers. Gráinne’s abstract was selected from a pool of 17 entries by a panel of four academics from the Council of the IALT. Her paper, which will be delivered at the IALT conference from 23 to 25 November, is on the re-conceptualisation of initial police education and training. Her paper explores the implications of adopting a Hybrid Problem-Based Learning pedagogy (HPBL) within a student Gardaí learning community. Challenges associated with teaching and learning through a HPBL model coupled with the sustainability of delivery of the BA in Applied Policing will also be discussed.These discussions will be grounded in the context of an increasingly changing and challenging policing and economic landscape.
