On Thursday evening 4th February 2016, representatives from A&L Goodbody (one of Europe and Ireland’s leading law firms) gave an informative careers presentation to our law students in Plassey House. This included an ‘all you need to know’ talk about their Summer Intern opportunities, Trainee Solicitor, Co-op and Law Start Programmes. Former UL Co-op students were there to answer any queries prospective Co-op students may have had.
Presentations were given by Aileen Murtagh (Associate) and Stephen Egan (Trainee) both representatives from A&L Goodbody and both of whom are former UL law graduates. Aileen spoke of her experience with the firm as an Associate and outlined career opportunities and provided tips on application process to students. Stephen described the collegiate, supportive and friendly environment which is both nurturing and mentoring for student progression as Trainee Solicitor.
UL co-op students Darren, Lauren, Blaithin, Alison and Alan, who recently finished their A&L Goodbody placement, mingled with students who had the opportunity to have a chat with them to find out more about their experiences at A&L Goodbody. They also provided advice to students on how to secure a co-op placement with the firm.
The event was very well attended by our students as they availed of the opportunity to mingle with A&L Goodbody representatives who really enjoyed meeting everyone interested in working at the firm in the future.
There was a wine reception with canapés and promotional material was available for students courtesy of A&L Goodbody. The evening was a great success, enjoyed by all and once again the evening highlighted the great relationship between A&L Goodbody and UL law school.
