Adjunct Professor at the School of Law, Ms Ellen O’Malley Dunlop, wrote an opinion piece on the experience of rape complainants in trials which appeared in the Irish Independent on Thursday, 29th of March. Ms O’Malley Dunlop also appeared on RTE Radio 1 on Sunday April 1st in a panel discussion on the Marion Finucane show. As part of her contribution to the discussion on the treatment of complainants in rape trials, she drew attention to recent research which has been conducted by the members of the Centre for Crime, Justice & Victim Studies in the School of Law, notably two recent relevant books: Sexual Offending in Ireland: Law, Procedures and Punishments which was written by Dr Susan Leahy and Dr Margaret Fitzgerald-O’Reilly and The Victim in the Irish Criminal Process which was co-authored by Professor Shane Kilcommins, Dr Susan Leahy and Dr Eimear Spain and Dr Kathleen Moore-Walsh (WIT).
