Computing Assistants Information Technology Division (ITD)

Information Technology Division (ITD) invites postgraduate students who are registered for the academic year 2019/20 to apply for fixed-term temporary positions as Computing Assistants. This role involves providing first level IT support, providing IT advice to Students and Staff and, daily upkeep and ongoing maintenance of Computer Labs and Printing Infrastructure.

These posts are intended to provide paid work experience for postgraduate students; therefore, in order to maximise participation by as many postgraduate students as possible, a successful applicant may hold this position for a maximum of 51 weeks, and will work for a maximum of 20 hours per week.

Applicants must be available to work the assigned hours for the full duration of the contract.

The salary is point one of the CLA salary scale currently €26,272 per annum on a pro-rata basis (approximately €13,927.98).

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, Experience & Competencies

  • Must be a registered postgraduate student at the University of Limerick for the 2019/20 academic year and not in receipt of a stipend
  • A primary degree in a relevant subject or currently studying for a postgraduate degree in IT or relevant IT experience
  • Demonstrable knowledge of standard PC applications and operating systems
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Familiarity with computing facilities and services available at UL
  • Candidates must be capable of working in an organised but independent manner
  • IT helpdesk/call centre experience desirable
