Brightspace is UL’s Virtual Learning Environment. Brightspace is where you will find information and resources relating to your assigned modules.

SULIS is the name given to UL's Learning Management System.

Some lecturers (but not all) are currently using SULIS to communicate with their students. SULIS facilitates communication and assessment with students of a particular module.

If your lecturer is using SULIS to communicate, he/she will inform you of this intention. You will also be provided with relevant instructions.

Log in to SULIS using your Student Computer Account Username (ID Number) and the Password you use to log onto a student PC on campus.

Please note: Read-only access to Sulis will commence on September 8, 2023, which means that lecturers will no longer be able to create new project sites or add/manage participants on module sites. However, content will still be available to view/download on Sulis, until September 2024.

Turnitin is a web-based writing assessment toolkit which allows instructors to provide feedback to students through markup tools, rubrics, proofing tools, and originality reports to detect plagiarism. Turnitin also provides peer review options.

Turnitin is integrated in all Brightspace sites through the Assignments tool. The instructor enables Turnitin in the Evaluation and Feedback area and Manage Turnitin by enabling similarity Report for the folder and all student submissions are sent to Turnitin for Originality Checking.

Turnitin launched its first iteration of their AI Detection Add-On on the 4th of April 2023.  The aim of this solution is to assist educators to gain insight into whether a submission might include AI-generated content from ChatGPT or other bots. For further information visit our Turnitin: AI Detection Add-On page on TOPdesk.

To use Turnitin independently of Brightspace, Instructors must register by logging a call to TOPdesk.
