Research Themes

The Hate and Hostility Research Group is the only research group on the island of Ireland dedicated to the study of hate crime and thus is uniquely placed in an Irish context to provide cutting-edge research which has international relevance.

Conducting translational research on hostility towards difference, it is an interdisciplinary group led by Dr Amanda Haynes of the Department of Sociology and Jennifer Schweppe from the School of Law. Through our research, we strive to make Ireland a safer and more inclusive space for minoritised communities.
