Policy focus

It is our goal at the HHRG to make the University of Limerick synonymous with engaged research, which has international impact, that promotes a safer and more inclusive society for all.

Our policy and practice-oriented research incorporates impact by design, and is considered ground-breaking in both Irish and international contexts. We work closely with our civil society partners in progressing evidence informed policy change to improve the lives of minoritised communities in Ireland.

We have presented research findings to Ireland's Houses of the Oireachtas, the Policing Authority, and the Central Statistics Office, and have engaged with politicians across the political spectrum on developing legislation to address hate crime in Ireland.

Our policy expertise has been sought by: Central Statistics Office, An Garda Síochána, IPSOS/EU Fundamental Rights Agency, EU Fundamental Rights Agency (FRANET Ireland), Ireland's Policing Authority, Pavee Point, Ireland's Central Statistics Office, Dáil Éireann and the Irish Civil Society Coalition.
