Welcome and introduction: Dr Tina O’Toole

Dr Michaela Schrage-Fruh (University of Limerick). ‘Irish Diaspora and Its Discontents in Deirdre Madden’s One by One in the Darkness and Nuala O’Faolain’s My Dream of You’.

Robert O’Keeffe (UL). ‘Building Up and Tearing England Down: Masculinity and the Irish Navvy’.

Claudia Reese (UL). ‘“The inadequacies that come with being a stranger”: Representation of Old and New Migrants in Hugo Hamilton’s Hand in the Fire’.

Dr Clíona O Gallchóir (University College Cork).  ’The Celtic Tiger, Migration and Identity: Representations of Race in Recent Irish Children’s Fiction’.

Prof Laura Izarra (University of São Paulo, Brazil). Through Other Eyes: Irish Women’s Travel Perceptions in South America’.
