The University of Limerick (UL) offers a number of undergraduate and taught postgraduate educational and training programmes that require students to undertake placements with external agencies. Such placements may bring the students into contact with children and vulnerable adults and require them to assume positions of trust. To ensure the protection of the public and justify public trust and confidence, UL is committed to ensuring that only suitable candidates are allowed to undertake these programmes.
In accordance with the National Vetting Bureau Acts 2012-2016 and UL’s Student Vetting Policy, there is a statutory requirement for all students on programmes that include a placement involving work with children or vulnerable adults to be vetted.
As the programme you have applied for is one of these programmes, you should now:
Please keep a copy of all requested documents for yourself and submit original documents only to: Complaints, Discipline & Vetting Unit, P204, Plassey House, University of Limerick, Limerick, Ireland, prior to Orientation. Applicants who receive their programme offer letter within two weeks of start of programme should present documents at the Student Vetting session or the International Student session during Orientation Week.
Please note the following:
When your online vetting application has been processed, you will receive an email from the National Vetting Bureau advising you that a vetting disclosure has been returned on your behalf.
When your UL Vetting process is complete, you will receive an automated email confirming same from UL.
Confirmation of vetting for your programme placement is provided by your Course Director.
Please note that your registration remains provisional until you have complied with UL’s student vetting requirements.
For International Students who have completed their UL programme and have been asked for a criminal history check or similar for their time in Ireland, please consult the Data Protection and An Garda Siochana website for further information on how to make such a request. Alternatively email Data Protection Unit
