The UL Apiary Project and UL Environmental Committee  are pleased to announce that registration is now open for 2020 UL Beginners Beekeeping Course.

The course is open for UL staff, UL students, and non-UL community members.

Course duration:  6 weeks from Wednesday 19^th Feb to 25^th March 2020; one evening per week (each Wednesday); from 6 pm -9 pm ))

  It is the recommended basic course for anyone with an interest in learning how to keep bees.

Topics covered:

    Week 1 - Honeybees

                Week 2 - Lifecycle of the bee, biology and foraging

                Week 3 - the beehive

                Week 4 - The beekeeping year

                Week 5 - Pests and diseases of the honeybee

                Week 6 - Honey, the honey harvest and products of the hive

About the course:

• The course is delivered by The Banner Beekeepers' Association.
• Venue: Course will run at the University of Limerick (Kemmy Business School, ground floor, ROOM:KBG14. Free parking is available beside the building.)
• Fee:
  • For UL Staff and Students, the full cost of course fees is covered by the UL Environmental Committee’s Apiary Project.
  • All external people will have to become a member of the Banner Beekeepers (www.bannerbeekeepers.com) for €45. This will cover the Beginners course and insurance for site visits.
