Special guest talk: Sahar Fatima, Boston Globe
Amplifying underrepresented voices and new approaches to audience centred journalism
Sahar Fatima is a digital editor with the Boston Globe where she focuses on audience engagement and digital strategy. She also writes and edits for the Globe’s award-winning Metro section. Sahar was previously a reporter at the Toronto Star where she focused on amplifying voices from underrepresented communities and telling stories that weren’t being told.
Sahar will discuss her approach to audience-centred journalism, how the COVID-19 pandemic sped up a growing appetite for accessible, explainer-type reporting, thriving in breaking news environments and many other lessons from her career. She will be in conversation with Joe Callaghan, instructor in Advanced Journalistic Writing for our MA in Journalism@UL and a feature and sports writer for the Toronto Star and The Guardian.
