Discourse of Blame: Newspaper Coverage of the Carrikmines Tragedy
Dr Elaine Vaughan of the School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics and Dr Fergal Quinn of the School of Culture and Communications presented some initial findings on research they are carrying out on representation of the Traveller community in the media. The working paper, entitled ‘Discourse of Blame: Newspaper coverage of the Carrickmines tragedy’ was given during the recent Journalism in Times of Crisis conference in UL.
