Applications are invited from Irish writers of established reputation for the position of Creative Writing Fellow at University of Limerick, 2020. The role is jointly funded by the Arts Council and UL Creative Writing. The Creative Writing Fellow role is designed to provide a writer with a unique opportunity to develop his/her practice in a university environment while giving students and other members of the university community the opportunity to engage with a practicing writer. The Fellowship will be tenable for the calendar year 2020, with a break from mid-June to August. The successful applicant will be paid a fee of €20,000.
The Fellow will work with University of Limerick MA students on the spring 2020 modules ‘Individual Creative Writing Project’ and ‘Creative Writers in the Community’, on the autumn module ‘Project Development for Creative Writers’, and in a number of other ways. (Details of those modules may be found by logging onto UL Book of Modules.) The Fellow will also make contributions to the wider cultural life of the University and the city.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview (the week beginning 4 November) based on the following criteria:
- Artistic track record.
- Experience teaching creative writing.
- Experience organizing and/or participating in literary events and other literary activities, for example editing and/or journal production.
- The quality of the proposal/proposed approach to the residency.
