Angela Chambers

Professor Emerita of Applied Languages

Biography

Angela Chambers is professor emerita of applied languages at the University of Limerick. She has taught in universities in France, the United Kingdom and, from 1990 until 2014, Limerick, Ireland. Her research interests involve applied linguistics, with a focus on the use of corpora in language learning, data-driven learning, written language skills and academic writing, particularly in French. She has published extensively in this area. In 2007 she was guest editor for a special issue of ReCALL journal on corpora in language learning. She has created two corpora for use by language learners and teachers, which are deposited with the Oxford Text Archive. She has served on the executive committees of a number of national and international associations, including EUROCALL and The Irish Association for Applied Linguistics. She has also coordinated and participated in several European projects involving language learning and technology. She currently supervises a number of PhD theses.
