Dexa Scan

A DEXA scanner works in a similar manner to an X-ray scanner but the radiation dose is much less (about 1/30th) of a standard X-ray.

To take a scan you will lay on the bed of the scanner, in shorts and T-shirt. The operator will position your body by moving your legs, torso and arms. Once you are positioned correctly, the operator will start the scan.  The arm of the scanner will move slowly, passing over your body from head to foot. The arm of the scanner does not come in contact with your body at any time.

The scan will take approximately 7 minutes to complete and you will be asked to remain still during this time.
