Irish Language Evening Courses - Autumn 2019

  • Our Autumn 2019 schedule of evening courses will commence during the week of 23 September. A registration evening takes place Wednesday 11 September 2019 @ 6-8pm in the Languages Building UL (room LC0-014). You can either attend the registration evening if you would like to get more information and advice or else register via the online application form below. You can also contact Ciara in Aonad na Gaeilge phone 061 234 754 or email ciara.considine@ul.ie (Tuesday - Friday).
  • More courses may be added subject to demand/tutor availibility, please check back regularly. 
  • Courses will run for 10 weeks in Autumn 2019 and 10 weeks in Spring 2020.
  • Note that some courses may run at lunchtime (subject to demand)  - please register your interest by emailing ciara.considine@ul.ie .
  • There are reduced rates available for full-time UL students and UL staff - please e-mail ciara.considine@ul.ie or phone 061 234 754

Dioplóma sa Ghaeilge Fheidhmeach - note that there are modules on our part-time evening Dioplóma available on a 'link-in' basis for those with an interest in getting a flavour of the course without registering for the whole programme. The modules available in Autumn 2019 are GA3023 An Cleachtas Dátheangach (€300) and GA3033 Scríbhneoireacht & Scileanna an Léinn (€300). Select module from the course list.

Suitable for those who had a good standard of Irish at school but are out of practice. Also suitable for those who completed a  basic Irish course in recent years. The focus in on developing your speaking skills but listening, reading and writing are also covered.

TEG B1 level (Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge)

This intensive course will be taught through a communicative and task-based approach. It will primarily focus on conversational skills (speaking and listening) whilst still integrating all language skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing, and cultural awareness) needed to learn a language. Note that it WILL NOT fully prepare participants for the TEG B1 oral exam (béaltriail) and should be bolstered by independent private study. The course will focus on the self-directed language learning skills needed to build language competence and the skills needed to cover all B1 material for those intending to apply for a TEG B1 oral exam, a prerequisite requirement for entry to Professional Masters of Education (PME) primary teaching courses. 

Course schedule: 11 weeks 1st October - 10th December 2019, 3 weeks 14/21/28 January 2020

This is a grammar course. The focus is on accuracy in spoken and written Irish.
