Graduates of QQI HET Higher Certificate (NFQ Level 6 Major Award)/QQI HET Bachelor (Ordinary Degree) (NFQ Level 7 Major Award)

Applications are invited from graduates of QQI HET Higher Certificate (NFQ Level 6 Major Award) or QQI HET Bachelor (Ordinary Degree) (NFQ Level 7 Major Award)who wish to pursue a compatible full-time Honours Degree programme (Level 8)  at UL. Transfers are accepted into most of our programmes. However a number of our programmes do not accept transfer applications due to the structure of the course, for example our Education and Nursing programmes. Prior to submitting an application students are advised to discuss their options with the Head of the relevant School/Department of the programme they wish to transfer to.

Minimum Entry Requirements

Level 6 - Students who hold a QQI HET Higher Certificate (NFQ Level 6 Major Award) at credit/merit or distinction level in a compatible programme will normally be considered for entry to year two of these four-year courses.
Level 7 - Students who hold a QQI HET Bachelor (Ordinary Degree) (NFQ Level 7 Major Award) at credit/merit or distinction level in a compatible programme will normally be considered for entry to year three of these four-year courses.

Students transferring to the University of Limerick normally follow the regular programme of studies with existing classes. A specially designed transition programme is provided for students transferring into third year of engineering and science degrees. Students follow this programme for one semester and then proceed through the regular programme with existing third year students.

Application Process

The transfer route in to UL's programmes depend on the number of places available, the content overlap of the programmes, your programme and competition for places in the year you apply. 

In order to be assessed the applications must be accompanied by:

• Application form. With all relevant sections fully completed
• List details of current/past 3rd level studies in the Application form, complete or incomplete
• Full documentation, including course syllabus and certified transcripts (Final results must be sent to the Admissions office as soon as received) 

Certified: All copies of original academic documents must be verified as true copies of the original. This means that the copies must be stamped and signed by the issuing institution,
 

Closing Date

The closing date for the receipt of completed applications is the 1st Friday in July
