2017 Project Blended Learning CPD

Blended Learning

The new professional online CPD course in Blended Learning is now available. The TELU was part of the development team led by Oxford University press/Epigeum, which worked in collaboration with world-renowned authors in the area of TEL and a Euro-American consortium of 15 universities:

As part of this project, the TELU has gathered participation from the academic community in order to record and disseminate cases of excellent teaching and assessment practice around TEL in the Shannon Consortium. The course is currently being piloted through the new Blended Learning module TL5101 in the Graduate Diploma and Masters in Teaching, Learning and Scholarship, in collaboration with the Blended Learning Unit in MIC. The TELU will jointly investigate other project-oriented interventions lead by the Technology-Enhanced Learning Unit (TELU) aimed to broaden programme delivery modalities (part-time, professional accredited programmes, blended and e-learning, etc.).

Also, a series of recorded interviews are currently being edited that draw on some of the material recorded during this project. A number of UL staff provide their insights into these questions:

  • What does blended learning mean to you?
  • What are the opportunities afforded by blended learning?
  • What are some of the challenges of blended learning?

The interviews have been edited in the context of the Digital Badge initiative of the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning, and will feature on a new Teaching Online badge. A schedule is being drawn up for the delivery of professional development workshops for the badges in late September, and there will be a piloting stage for the badge delivery.
