Cian McKeown graduated in 2013 with a first class honours B.Sc in Applied Physics from the University of Limerick. His research, which is supported by Science Foundation Ireland, is focused on the design and characterisation of nanostructured catalysts for hydrogen fuel cells. In 2017 Cian received the prestigious Rosse medal for communicating postgraduate research from the Institute of Physics in Ireland.
Cian received financial support from the Institute of Physics to help him attend an international conference. He attended the ninth International Conference on Materials for Advanced Technologies (ICMAT 2017) which was held 18–23 June in Singapore. Cian presented some results from his doctoral research on direct methanol fuel cell (DMFCs).
