After completing an undergraduate degree at the University of Liverpool (UK), Mohamed Noor graduated with a PhD from the University of Limerick (Ireland) in 2012. The thesis encompasses the bioenergetics of thermophilic Thermus thermophilus in comparison to mesophiles, and was performed under the tutelage of Prof. Tewfik Soulimane with funding from the Irish Research Council. Since then, he joined the same research group as a junior postdoctoral researcher on the EU FP7 LANIR project (www.lanir.eu) where he investigated membrane proteins for super-resolution label-free infrared imaging. Within CURAM, he is working with COOK Medical on the encapsulation of membrane proteins for targeted therapeutics.
