Contact: Dr. Vincent Casey

Dr. Casey’s research interests include Microelectromechanical structures and devices particularly structures generated using softlithography techniques. He is specifically interested in using micromachined elastomer structures as primary sensing elements in biomedical (non-invasive) pressure sensors and as micro-gratings in Moire interference analysis of model mechanical structures such as hip prosthesis.
Microsprings form the sensing element of MediPres, a patented sub-bandage pressure logging and monitoring system. The chart shows the pressure traces from three sensors deployed under a leg bandage to establish pressure gradient.
