Reading by German writer Judith Hermann

Date: 9th March 2015

The School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics cordially invites you to a reading by German writer Judith Hermann.

3 pm in Wood Room, Plassey House - in cooperation with the DAAD writer-in-residence scheme and the Centre for Irish-German Studies.

Judith Hermann’s first book, the short story collection Sommerhaus, später (1998, Summerhouse, Later) created a huge stir and was enthusiastically received by the critics. It has sold over 250,000 copies, has been translated into 17 languages and has made her one of the best known young writers of Germany. This success was followed by two further short story collections, Nichts als Gespenster (2003, Nothing But Ghosts), turned into a film in 2006, and Alice (2009). Her first novel Aller Liebe Anfang appeared in 2014 and has received very favourable reviews.

Judith Hermann has received numerous literary prizes, among them the Bremer Literaturförderpreis (1999), the Hugo-Ball-Förderkreis, the Kleistpreis (2001) and the Friedrich Hölderlin Preis (2009).

All welcome!

The reading will be in German.
