Postgraduate Funding Opportunities

Two one-year fee waivers are available for students pursuing an MA in the following areas of the School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics (University of Limerick):

MA in Irish/German Studies

MA in Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies

MA in Languages and ICT Content Development (new for 2015)

MA in Modern Language Studies (French, German or Spanish)

MA in TESOL

MA by Research and Thesis

Applicants must include the following in their application:

  1. A completed Postgraduate Studies Research Application Form (www.ul.ie/graduateschool/courses/arts-humanities-social-sciences)
  2. Original transcripts for all third-level degrees
  3. Two academic references
  4. A 200-word letter outlining reasons for applying for an MA scholarship
  5. If you are currently in receipt of any funding awards supporting your studies, please give details stating the Awarding Body, amount and duration of the award

AHSS PhD Teaching Fellowships commencing in Academic Year 2015-16

Applications are invited for Five PhD Teaching Fellowships commencing in the Academic Year 2015-16 in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Limerick (AHSS).

The AHSS Teaching Fellowships will commence in September 2015. They comprise a scholarship of €15,000 + a fee waiver (EU fees). They are of four years duration subject to a satisfactory academic performance. The awards are for PhD candidates on the full-time PhD register.

PhD Teaching Fellowship in French (1) in the School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics.

The Fellowship is to allow the holder to pursue doctoral research in the field of modern and contemporary literature(s) of French expression. Research proposals should relate to an appropriate area of research specialisation in French at the University of Limerick, and would be particularly welcome within one of the following themes:

Modern and/or contemporary French-language poetry and poetics;
Contemporary French literature in a European context;
Critical approaches to utopian writing in modern and / or contemporary French literature;
Relations between law and literature in modern and / or contemporary French literature.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake teaching duties to a maximum of 6 hours per week as agreed with their research supervisor and relevant subject leader. An advanced level of proficiency in spoken and written French will thus be a key attribute of the successful candidate.

TEACHING FELLOWS 2015 APPLICATION FORM

The successful candidate will be required to undertake teaching duties to a maximum of 4 hours per week as agreed with their supervisor and relevant subject leader.
