Mixed-signal System-on-Chip (SoC) testing has become prohibitively expensive with the increasing integration of complex analogue circuitry. Specifically, data converters are components that require significant test resources. The BISTPAD project will deliver a scalable on-chip test IP solution with in-line diagnostic analysis capabilities useful to engineering teams incorporating data converters into their microchips. The project may also find use in sensor and systems needing analogue to digital converters (ADCs) and signal processing features used in a variety of industrial and healthcare applications.

Digitally-Controlled LLC Resonant SMPS with Wide Output Voltage Range

This project focuses on developing intellectual property to improve the performance, functionality and intelligence of a certain class of switch mode power supplies, known as Half-bridge LLC Resonant converters. It is proposed that improvements in performance functionality and intelligence will be achieved using ‘smarter’ robust digital control algorithms. A hardware Technology Demonstrator will be developed to demonstrate the performance of the digital control algorithms. The research impact and commercial objective is license this technology to Irish companies.

The GaNPoP project focuses on next generation switching power converter modules exploiting the recent advances in wide bandgap switch devices and 3D integration packaging technology.
