Music Minds 17-18 January 2020

Music Minds Festival

Announcing a Three Day Festival Bringing Musical Minds Together in the West of Ireland this January

Music Minds is a three day multi-genre festival made up of workshops, debates, films, live performances and guest speakers for those interested in the advancing music industry, its lineage, and its rapidly changing vista through technology.

In 2020, its second year, the emphasis is on connecting different fields of live creative arts. A full day Resolume Software Workshop taught by A-Li-ce, a visual mapping artist from Berlin, will connect with a full day Ableton live workshop given by Cork producer Bantum to produce a joint Resolume and Ableton live performance workshop performance. We have a master class with London producer Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, Jon Hopkins, David Holmes) We will dive into the minefield of audio Mastering with some of Ireland's top mastering engineers as well as facilitating Ireland's first patching circle hosted by University of Limerick’s Dr Kerry Hagan.

Our panels will feature live music and fiery debate while taking on the challenging topics of gender imbalance in the music industry and how artists, promoters and festivals can strive to be more sustainable. As our cities become more expensive for artists to live in, we will share thoughts on promoting music from rural Ireland. We will have a discussion hosted TIMI Podcasts Mark Graham. And we’re delighted to open the festival with a screening of photojournalist Seamus Murphy’s ‘A Dog Called Money’, the documentary of PJ Harvey’s unorthodox journey to her acclaimed album ‘The Hope Six Demolition Project’.

Say ‘No!’ to the winter blues and escape to the wilds of the Atlantic coast, Doolin, Co.Clare from the 17th - 19th of January.
